Track Day at Cadwell Park Circuit

The purpose of this track day was to get a group of like minded enthusiasts together for the first group track day of the year at Cadwell Park. With the weather slowly getting warmer and more and more cars creeping out of hibernation we felt it was a good time to organise the first track day for a hopefully warm and sunny day on 13th April 2013. The Auto Torque Evo 7 Group B sprint car has under gone some fine tuning over the winter months and this was the ideal opportunity to blow the cobwebs off and get out there, have a bit of fun and test out all our hard work.

We arrived bright and early for signing on and met up with the other guys from our area. The cars ranged from a little 1.2 Nissan Micra rally car to a fully prepared Ferrari race car. Lots of people used the day as a test for their freshly built cars and with the day fully booked with 81 entry’s, the atmosphere was buzzing. We couldn’t wait to get going.

After an informative briefing and a sighting lap we were ready to be let loose and put our cars through their paces. For any of you who have driven Cadwell Park, I must admit It was a bit daunting with all the blind crest and unknown corners. After a few sessions we all were getting used to the braking points and started to shape a nice racing line clipping the apexes. One thing I’ve always wanted to do was have a professional sit with me and help me improve. How ever good or fast you think you are there will always be areas you can improve on and different techniques to learn. A very valuable experience in my eyes for any level of driver.

The day was quickly disappearing and we were all having a great time. We were getting the Mitsubishi Evo VIIs handling to a good level of stability by adjusting the dampening and the anti roll bar set up. We spent a lot of time specing what suspension components we were going to run this year and i must say the car feels so responsive with the SuperPro full bush and anti roll kit, the Nitron coilovers giving it phenomenal ride over the tarmac and the WhiteLine Anti roll bars really stiffing everything up to keep it firmly planted around every type of corner.
